SUBJECT: BRING THE ORIGINAL
Have you ever modified something to work in a way that it wasn't designed? An example would be something that is powered from a 12 volt power supply that should be able to work with a 12 volt battery.
It may, or may not work. There could be problems that come up, which weren't anticipated. If two devices are being powered from the same battery, or power supply, it's possible they may interact with each other and not work the way they are supposed to.
If you haven't worked out the problems ahead of time, it's best to take the original equipment with you so you won't have to make a trip back, or find something else that will work. That's why we have drills and exercises.
You don't want to be left holding a piece of equipment that doesn't work during an emergency or disaster, just because you thought something you modified would work, but didn't. Either work out any bugs during an exercise or drill, or before you need them for a real event or incident.
