WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.46           DATE: November 13, 2011
SUBJECT: THANK GOODNESS FOR DRILLS

Have you ever wondered what drills and exercises are good for?  If it weren't for drills and exercises, you might not get those little jobs done, that should already be done.  You can find all kinds of projects that need to be completed to be ready for an actual emergency, drill, or exercise.

An event doesn't have to be in operation when you start finding things wrong.  While getting ready for a drill, you will be thinking of what you might need.  When you start looking for the things you may need, you will find that you're not ready. While you have the time before the next drill or exercise, that's when you should start putting things together.  Since the last drill you participated in, things may have changed, and you haven't made those changes yet.  Now is the time to get them done.

That's what drills and exercises are for.  Any time that you can participate in a drill or exercise, you should take advantage of it.  You can learn a lot, or you will find projects that you can do that will make your job easier.  You'll find things that you need, and haven't got them yet.  Even if you don't get to participate in a drill or exercise, you can make sure you are ready by checking your equipment.  When a real emergency comes along, you'll be better prepared.
