WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.37 DATE: September 11, 2011
SUBJECT: PUBLIC SERVICE EVENTS ARE TRAINING TOO
Providing communications for service events such as runs, walks, and races are used for training. Participating in such non-emergency events allows you to work out your communications before you need them in a real emergency.
Working such non-emergency events allows you the chance to determine any communication problems, such as interference from other radio systems that you may encounter. If you encounter problems from another radio system, you may need to find a system or frequency that will work for you. Instead of wasting a lot of time trying to find where the interference is coming from, it may be easier to just use a different system or frequency.
By using a different system, or frequency, during a drill or public service event allows you to be correct the same problem in an actual emergency. Everything that you learn during these events is just training for the real thing.
