SUBJECT: BACK IT UP WITH PAPER
I don't know how many Emergency Services training classes I've attended over that the years, but one thing that is said about every time is "If it's not documented, then it didn't happen". What is being said is that if you don't have good set of records on an activity, or event, then you can't prove that it happened.
How many of you have had a computer crash, and lose most, if not all, of your private, or personnel, information? The same thing can happen with your records for an activity or event, which means that if you don't have some kind of back-up system, you can't prove that it happened.
There are several ways to provide a back-up system, and one of them is to have a paper copy. With today's electronics, it's very easy to make of an electronic file copy of your activity, and put it away in a safe place. If it's real important you can make paper copies of your records, but that could be costly and it may take up a lot of space.
It depends on how much information you need to have at your finger tips, and how much will be lost if you lose a computer. So the next time you need be sure than you have a good set of records, or documentation, think about using paper.
