WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.20               DATE: May 15, 2011
SUBJECT: TIME TO STANDARDIZE YOUR POWER PLUGS

With Field Day coming up soon, now is the time to have your communications equipment ready to be used for emergency use. Communications equipment in this case is anything that operates from a 12 Volt DC Supply.

Any equipment that uses, or provides, a 12 Volt DC source should be wired with a standard plug that can be used as either a supply or a load.  The well known Anderson PowerPole plug is just the right connector.  It can be placed on a power source such as a Power Supply, a Battery, or a Solar Panel, and it can also be placed on a load such as Radios, Lights, Computers, etc.

The Friday before Field Day every year is the time to have all of your equipment wired for standardization.  You can never tell when you will need to take your communications equipment to the scene of an incident to help provide communications or to provide power for someone else's equipment.

Bring all of the equipment you need wired to the Wood County Emergency Communications Field Day site on the Friday before Field Day, and have it wired to be standardized with other Emergency Communications providers.
