WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.18               DATE: May 1, 2011
SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EVENT COMMUNICATORS.

While operating during a public event or emergency, Amateur Radio operators involved should go to the correct frequency being used for that event or emergency.  Once on the correct frequency, the frequency lock function on your radio should be used, if there is one available.  This will eliminate the possibility of accidently changing frequency, or affecting any of the radio's functions.

Amateurs participating should always keep an eye on their radio and make sure it is functioning properly.  If nothing is heard in about 10 minutes, that station should check in with the Net Control Station or control operator to verify communications. We may fail to prove our usefulness if we lose our established link with a rest stop, check point, or command post.

A major cause of confusion for an event coordinator and his or her assistants is when volunteers who have pledged their help, fail to report for that event or function.  If you have pledged your help, and find you cannot make it to the event or function, you should contact the event coordinator and inform them as soon as possible before the event.

Failing to inform a person in charge of an event and not showing up, places pressure on the entire group, and is disrespectful to all involved.  Please be responsible and inform the proper person before you become a "no show".
