WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.11 DATE: March 13, 2011
SUBJECT: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF COMMUNICATION ACTIVITIES
When operating, or providing communications for, special events such as Road Runs, Walks, or Regattas, that's the time to look for additional ways to make communications work better.
While setting up and operating at these events, there's always something you wish would make it easier and better. Make a note of it, and have it ready for the next time. You should never have to say "Boy! I wish I'd have made that thing last year so that I'd have it for this year."
As soon as the activity is over, set down and talk about what would have make it easier to provide the communications next time. It doesn't make any difference how many times you provide the communications for an event, you'll always find something that can be improved.
Remember the more you provide communications for a non- emergency events, no matter what it is, you're actually practicing for real emergency communications, which very seldom gives you any warning. The more you practice, setting up and operating communications, the more prepared you'll be for the real thing.
