WOOD COUNTY BULLETIN NR 11.01            DATE: January 2, 2011
SUBJECT: THE NEW YEAR IS HERE

The year 2010 is over and the New Year is here.  Now is the time to start planning for it.  You can't do anything about the past, but you can make changes for the future.     There are a lot of activities that you can get involved with that you can use as practice in case of any real emergencies or disasters.

The Road and Track Races, Bicycle Races, Parades, and training drills & exercises, are all practices for when you may need them in a real emergency.  Don't forget about Field Day, it is one of the most important, since it allows you to practice setting up your communications equipment, and emergency power sources.  It also allows you to learn what equipment is available, and how to set it up, if and when you need it.

Any time that you get the opportunity to attend a training class, you should take advantage of it.  You might even learn something that you can use for non-emergencies.  It also allows you to meet others who you might be working with in an emergency.

Don't let the year go by without making yourself a better communicator.
