WV ARES BULLETIN NR 09.31                 DATE: August 2, 2009
SUBJECT: IN THE PUBLIC'S EYE

Have you ever been walking along, stubbed your toe, and almost fell?  Have you ever just walked into the side of a building, or a parked car by not paying attention?  Have you ever done anything that made you really feel stupid?

What was the first thing you did after it happened?  Did you look around to see who was watching?  Well, believe it or not, someone saw you do it.  They may not have been out in plain sight, but they saw you do it.

Have you ever borrowed your dad's car without him "knowing" about it?, but, some how the word got back to him, that's because it was out of place and something was wrong.

As communications people the same things can happen to you. If you say or do something you shouldn't, it may come back to haunt you.

The same thing holds true with anything you do.  It may not have anything to do with falling down or tripping, it can be any little thing that you do when you are "In the Public's Eye".

If you are the center of attraction you have to be double sure that you don't do something the public will remember you by, unless you are a comedian, and you want them to remember you that way.

When you're working in public, you need to be sure that you know what you are saying and doing.  You need to keep any differences with another person to yourself until you are in private.  Anything you're doing in public, someone will see you doing it, and remember it.  You may ruin your reputation and your groups standing in the community.
