ARES DISTRICT 3 BULLETIN NR 08.06       DATE: February 10, 2008
SUBJECT: YOUR TIME IS MONETARY SUPPORT.

Like in any organization, there are times that you must work to raise money which supports the goals of that organization. Whether this is done by paying annual dues, or thru your labors to raise money for the organization, it still needs to be done. We should not be surprised when called upon to assist with events or projects that do not directly involve communications, but instead are to raise funds for the organization we support.  It is our responsibility, as a member of an organization, to assist in projects arranged to raise money for the organization. Without participation in money raising events, it puts a burden on the few who always show.  If you cannot assist with one project, be sure to make yourself available for the next.  And don't think that one time is all that is needed.  Money, as you know, is spent to maintain, improve, and/or repair the organizations equipment and also used to reward the members. If the organization you have agreed to assist has regular projects for raising money, you should enlist, and assist, in as many as possible.  This will always fill the schedules and ease the life of volunteers who end up working four and five times as many shifts per project.

Be a good volunteer and help support the organizations you are a member of with your time and knowledge.  Without funds it is hard to maintain or improve what we have, or hope to have. (Reprint, with modification of, Wood County RACES Bulletin NR 94.50, by Duane Jones, N8LDM)
