SUBJECT: CAN YOU MOVE THEM ?
Do you operate mobile radios? Are they easy to move from your vehicle to another location, if necessary? What if you were going to operate as a base station during a drill, exercise, or actual emergency, would you have the equipment available to do it?
If your mobile equipment were easy to remove and place at a base location, the answer might be yes. Why did I say might be yes? If you were going to move your mobile equipment from your vehicle to use for base use, you would need to have a couple of items that might already be in place. It would be handy to have an antenna and power source ready to be used, one that is dedicated to be used in an emergency.
The next time you look at your mobile equipment, see how easy it would be to re-install it on some kind of slide-in mount so that you can easily remove it. Of course you want to make sure that it's secured so that it's not easy to remove by just anyone, otherwise, you may not have it when you need it, if you know what I mean. The same thing holds true of your base equipment, it too should be made to be moved to your vehicle, or other location, in case you have to go somewhere else, such as a hill top to act as a field unit.
