ARES DISTRICT 3 BULLETIN NR 07.20            DATE: May 20, 2007
SUBJECT: 11 DAYS AND COUNTING

There's only 11 days left before Hurricane season begins, are you ready with emergency communications?  Granted, we don't have hurricanes in this area, but we can get the after affects of them, or may be needed to handle disaster relief communications. Since there are a few new General Class licensees in the area, now would be the time to put your license to use.  When the National Weather Service starts tracking Hurricanes that usually start in the Atlantic Ocean, that's the time to start making sure you have communications ready.  Monitor the Twenty Meter HF Single Side Band frequency of 14.200 MHz  That where the Hurricane Net is held when is being tracked.  Listen to the frequency, but don't check in unless you have something important to say.  It's interesting to listen to and you may e able to help.  Even if there are no Hurricanes, you should still have your emergency communications ready to go.
